CLOSURE AND RELOCATION

As of 28 February 2020, Bierkeller shut its doors on our beloved Bridge Road location. Our lease came to an end after ten amazing years – thanks to our wonderful customers for their support throughout this time.

THE OWNER

Bierkeller is the dream of its owner Rob Hagen. Rob was born in Australia to Austrian parents, and grew up with a natural passion for eating and cooking traditional food from his homeland. Childhood holidays and experience gathered over many years in the kitchen of an Austrian Ski Lodge influenced Rob’s passion for traditional Austrian Cuisine, and inspired him to pursue a career in hospitality.

After his education in Switzerland, he gained experience in renowned 5 star hotels and pub businesses before embarking on a life long dream to establish his own Austrian inspired restaurant in the heart of Melbourne.

THE FOOD

Bierkeller offers a hand picked selection of local and imported craft beer, along with a rustic menu comprised of hearty Austrian/European food. We use traditional Austrian techniques and methods and combine the with top quality Australian produce to bring you the best from both words.

Our hope is that our menu will remind Austrian people of home, and give others a taste of Austrian Cuisine in their own backyard.
